I know this is a small thing but it adds to the overall realism and immersion(imo) So will this game have the option to choose a first name and a last name? Or do we just choose a regular username?

We absolutely use first and last names, we kind of had to. CoS uses a somewhat unique server system, allowing all players to play with any other player at any time. And although there is a limit to how many players can be in a particular server (like all other games), players are not assigned to that server, so it could, in theory, have any mix of the player base at any given moment.

What all this means, as related to your question, is that if we used single names, then there could only be one of each. Example, there can only be one player named Croaker, because if there were two, they could meet on the same server, and that would cause trouble. But, with a first and last name system, there can be 1,000 Croakers, because one is Croaker Jones, and one is Croaker Smith, etc.

Be default we display First name only, unless two of the same players are in view, then we add the last name... but if you want to see first and last names all the time, you can opt for that in the U.I. customization.

You can also assign specific players in the chat system for a particular first name. Example: Your best buddy that you game with all the time is named Croaker Smith. Someone you don't know is named Croaker Jones. You can tell the system to always send your messages to Croaker Smith when you type Croaker in chat. To send to Croaker Jones you would have to type out enough of his name to uniquely identify that player, ie: Croaker Jo might be enough.

That answer your question?

Can we use our usernames for our display names? I happen to rather like the name Heo Ashgah.

Nicer to hear that the names can be on perma display, as that will avoid dealing with imposters.....

Will both names be forced in the Non Storyline World INstances as I guess you will be seeing more than just your group of players..... ?

Brain not working today did anyone say what the limit was on invited pl;ayers (Was it four ?)

Name display is up to the individual, if you opt to see both first and last name all the time, you will. If you opt to only see first names the game will automatically add the last name if there is more than one player with the same last name on screen. There is no difference between CRWs and SRWs when it comes to this.

Being an older player, I find that when I play online games, I eschew the player names like L33TDood or 69XXX69 and such nonsense. I have played games that had players with porn stars names and actually refused to group with them. When I was asked what "my problem" was, I told them I didn't care for their characters name. Of course I was the bad guy for actually wanting to be immersed in my gameplay and not see pornstars names.
Which brings me to my point,I hope there are some sensible character naming guidelines in CoS.

Well said, I completely agree.

I agree. Sure, they can name their characters whatever the heck they want, but just don't expect me to go running around iwth them. Now I get to utter a cliche as old as the world....kids theese days :o

To the point though, I as well hope the naming guidlines are sensible. Problem is, just because you and I see L33tDood as...undesirable, others do not. Jatar and crew are going to have to wrestle with those things, and that's one of those parts of their job I don't envy. While i'm sure they want as many people to play as possibe, lines have to be drwan so those that do play don't push away others that would play, so to speak.
